This lesson follows the 5E model of instruction containing five phases of learning (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate). It provides a carefully planned sequence of instruction that places students at the center of learning. It encourages all students to explore, construct understanding of scientific concepts, and relate those understandings to phenomena or engineering problems.
During this STEAM lesson for Grade 3, students will gain understanding of how forces act on a baseball and how we can use those forces to predict its movement. Students will integrate and exhibit learning by designing a system to replicate the movement of a baseball.
