This lesson follows the 5E model of instruction containing five phases of learning (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate). It provides a carefully planned sequence of instruction that places students at the center of learning. It encourages all students to explore, construct understanding of scientific concepts, and relate those understandings to phenomena or engineering problems.
During this STEAM lesson for Grade 4, students will gain understanding of how Morse code enabled fast and efficient communication before voice transmission was possible. Students will integrate and exhibit learning by programming a functioning Morse code transmission system to send messages.
