SAM Labs Inc. ("SAM Labs," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and safety of children and students who use SAM Labs products and services.
This Child Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information from children under 13 in the United States, as well as student information provided or authorized by schools, teachers, districts, parents, or guardians.
This Policy applies to SAM Labs websites, SAM Studio, associated SAM Labs applications, educational platforms, and related services that link to this Policy.

In the United States, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") applies to the online collection of personal information from children under 13.
SAM Labs may provide educational products and services used by schools, teachers, districts, and students. In school settings, schools or teachers may provide consent on behalf of parents where permitted by COPPA, but only when student information is used for school-authorized educational purposes and not for unrelated commercial purposes.
If SAM Labs collects personal information from a child under 13 outside of a school-authorized educational context, we will seek verifiable parental consent where required by law.

SAM Labs does not require students to provide more personal information than is reasonably necessary to use the applicable educational service.
Where possible, schools and teachers may use nicknames or limited identifiers instead of full student names.
Student access to SAM Labs products or services is typically managed by a school, district, teacher, administrator, or other authorized educational institution.
Students may be added to classrooms or groups by teachers or administrators through approved rostering methods, such as manual entry, CSV upload, Google Classroom, Microsoft, or other school-authorized integrations.
Students who are not assigned to an active classroom or who are removed from a classroom may lose access to the applicable service.

We do not create or maintain student profiles for non-educational purposes.
SAM Labs products may allow students to create, save, or submit projects and other content.
By default, student content is intended for educational use within the applicable classroom, teacher, school, or authorized learning environment. SAM Labs does not make student-generated content publicly available through its services unless a school, teacher, parent, guardian, or authorized user enables or approves such sharing where available.
Students should not include unnecessary personal information in projects or submissions, such as home addresses, personal phone numbers, private photos, or sensitive information.
If SAM Labs becomes aware of unauthorized or inappropriate disclosure of student-generated content, we may remove or restrict access to that content.
SAM Labs may automatically collect technical and usage information needed to operate, secure, maintain, and improve our products and services.
This may include log data, device information, browser information, IP address, timestamps, pages or features accessed, error reports, and similar diagnostic information.
We use this information to support service functionality, improve performance, maintain security, and understand product usage in an educational context.
SAM Labs may share limited information with service providers that help us operate, host, secure, support, and improve our products and services.
These providers may include cloud hosting providers, authentication providers, analytics tools, support tools, and other vendors that process information on our behalf.
SAM Labs may also support integrations with school-approved third-party services, including Google, Microsoft, or Google Classroom. When a school or district enables these integrations, SAM Labs may receive information such as student name, email address, username, classroom, class enrollment, or related account information needed to provide the service.
Service providers are expected to use personal information only as needed to provide services to SAM Labs and to protect it appropriately.
SAM Labs may also disclose information if required by law, court order, subpoena, government request, or where necessary to protect the safety, rights, or security of SAM Labs, users, schools, or the public.
In educational settings, COPPA allows schools and teachers to consent to the collection of personal information from children under 13 on behalf of parents, provided that the information is used only for school-authorized educational purposes and not for unrelated commercial purposes.
SAM Labs relies on schools, districts, teachers, or administrators to provide appropriate authorization when they create accounts, roster students, enable integrations, or permit students to use SAM Labs products and services.
Schools and districts should provide parents with appropriate notice about the educational technology services used in the classroom, including SAM Labs where applicable.
Parents with questions about a child's school-authorized use of SAM Labs should first contact the child's teacher, school, or district.
Parents and guardians may have the right to review, request deletion of, or refuse further collection or use of personal information collected from their child.
In school-authorized educational settings, parents should generally contact the child's teacher, school, or district to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of student information.
Parents may also contact SAM Labs at info@samlabs.com. We may need to verify the requester's identity and authority before responding to a request.
If a school or district controls the student account or educational record, SAM Labs may direct the request to the appropriate school or district.
In some school settings, student information may be subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ("FERPA").
Where FERPA applies, SAM Labs may act as a service provider to the school or district and process student information only for authorized educational purposes and in accordance with applicable agreements.
Parents seeking access to education records governed by FERPA should contact the relevant school or district.
SAM Labs retains children's and student information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the applicable educational services, support school-authorized use, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain security.
When information is no longer needed, we will delete, de-identify, or anonymize it where appropriate.
Schools or districts may request deletion of student information in accordance with applicable agreements and legal requirements.
SAM Labs uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect children's and student information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
These measures may include access controls, encryption in transit, secure authentication practices, monitoring, and other appropriate safeguards.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we become aware of a security incident affecting children's or student information, we will take appropriate steps as required by applicable law.
